What is the church? What are the very basic things that it needs to do?
That question was given to our preteens, and they were sent to their Bibles to find the answers.
From Acts to Isaiah, Psalms to Ephesians, the kids found a whole list of very similar things that the church must cling to. These basic things, it turns out, are very powerful.
From Acts, it was found that the church needs to be taught. The church needs to pray. The church needs to spread the good news. The church needs to be ready for God.
From Isaiah, the church needs to faithfully trust the Lord.
From Psalms, the church needs to praise God. The church needs to listen to God patiently.
From Ephesians, the church needs to be humble, gentle, and patient. The church needs to walk in love.
The church needs to believe in Jesus, and act on that belief in faith and obedience. It will be difficult, scary, awkward, exciting, powerful...but it will be what Jesus calls us to do.
These kids are doing these things, and learning more of how to have active faith in Jesus. It's encouraging.
