δύναμις
This is dunamis, the Greek word for power. As in Acts 1:8 -
"But you will receive power (δύναμιν) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Now, the word dunamis is how we get our English word "dynamite." Thus, we have given all kids and volunteers their own dynamite sticks. These are, of course, FAKE dynamite sticks made from PVC pipe. (And on the outside, each of the kids wrote dunamis and Scripture references). Each of them opens on one end. Weekly, the students and leaders will put three things inside their dynamite:
1. A prayer request/topic
2. Scripture
3. An activity for that week
Daily, we are to take these out of our dynamite, and to pray, read Scripture, and to act. All the while, the dynamite serves to not only provide a fun, easy way to compile these things, but it also reminds us of God's power, that he has control over everything.
This week, our Scripture is Genesis 1-2, creation; which leads us here:
1. Thank God in prayer
2. Genesis 1-2, Creation
3. Create something and admire God's creation
The kids are to do these things with their families, not always all by themselves. God's power is great, let's help these kids to find out for themselves just how great.
