Old Testament Power

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Then Elijah prayed, and behold, the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the sacrifice, the altar and all the water as well. The people were amazed and cried out, "The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!" as they fell on their faces.

As one man was cutting down a tree, his axe head flew off and sank into the river. He cried out, "Oh my lord, it was borrowed!" Elisha asked where it had fallen. Then he broke off a stick, tossed it where the axe-head fell, and the axe-head floated to the surface.

Elisha said to his servant, "Do not be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who oppose us." His servant's eyes were then opened and saw a great host of chariots and horses, protecting them from the enemy.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this, Job did not sin by blaming or cursing the Lord.

Our God is mighty.
He is great. He is powerful.

By him were all things created, and by him all great things have come to be. His servants Elijah, Elisha, Job, and all the rest show his might by their action in faith.

Elijah showed hundreds the true power of the true God.

Elisha's small things show God's power emanates during even the small things, yet his power is not small, as he commands a great heavenly army.

Job suffered, yet proved himself and God to be faithful.

How can we show God's power?
By letting every small part of our lives be filled with the joy of the Lord. Sounds like the fruit of the Spirit, no? We can show his power by not fearing to speak his name. Our God is steadfast, even as we suffer he is present. Let not your hardship blind you to the presence and glory of the Creator.

God is great. Praise his name. Show his power.
