Questions + Answers

This weekend, instead of adhering to the regular style of teaching, we went with a Q&A style. We opened the floor to questions. Questions about Jesus, the Bible, God, anything along those lines.

The faith we have, the things we believe...they're sometimes hard to believe in! Kids these ages will have many questions and won't be afraid to ask them yet.

Some of the questions we got were:

Why did Abraham lie about Sarah being his wife?
Why is it ok for God to tell us to worship him and wrong for us to be worshipped?
What is the Rapture?
What is evolution?
Why do people say "X-Mas"?
Why is Revelation so confusing?
Can Catholics go to heaven?
What happened to the dinosaurs?
Where did cavemen come from?

Needless to say, it was a very enjoyable weekend. The kids got to ask things and help to answer some questions as well. It helped me to be able to be challenged a bit, to go later and search for answers myself.

I believe it was also one of the best weekends we've had in regards to having the kids enjoy church. They are smart! They want to know things. They need to be equipped to answer questions and be ready for what the world is. It's good for them to have a safe place to be able to ask these things.

In short, we will be doing this much more often.

And, yes, I think Catholics go to heaven.
They say X-Mas because of the Greek word for Christ. When transliterated, the letter looks like an X. It's not a bad thing, it's just language.
Revelation is a dream! I have confusing dreams all the time. But when you investigate, you can find meaning to everything in that book.
I bet the dinosaurs died because of the new atmosphere after the flood.

Those are some short answers...
