God Cares About Me - by Jason Wibowo

In our Awana program, the kids are sometimes prompted in their workbooks to answer questions about God, the Bible, and things of the like. One of our 5th graders, Jason Wibowo, answered the question "What do I need to know about God?" like this:

I have been thinking about the question, "What do I need to know about God?" One of the answers says that I need to know God cares about me and has made me feel loved even when we have physical, emotional, and spiritual difficulties.

The backup verse Luke 12:6-7 says, "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed the very hairs on your head are numbered. Do not be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows." It makes me feel that if God cares a lot about sparrows, he must care for us much more.

Another verse that shows this idea is Mark 10:14. It says, "Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Sometimes young men and women get overlooked, but in the verse it says that we are not ignored by God, but instead are just as important as adults. God cares for all of us, even young men and women.

The last verse with this idea is John 10:11, which says, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. It reminds me of the Easter story - God sent his only son to die for us. It makes me feel like he cared for us so much as to give the ultimate sacrifice, his own son, for all of us.

If you read this and see Jason this week, let him know he did a great job. Thanks to Jason for reminding us that God cares, which is sometimes easy for us to forget. Pass the message along.
